Halloween Games

Name of Game: Halloween Match-Up Memory
Ideal # of Participants: 20 or more in even numbers
Age: 5 and up…5 if the game was made very simple
Equipment: role cards for each participant and maybe costumes
Type of Game: Interactive/Ice Breaker Game
Description: Participants are lined up and given instructions on how the game will work. Then role cards with different actions or jobs are handed out to each person. While handing out the role cards the leader skips over the number of participants who are going to be the guessers. Everyone then scatters around the gym. The first guesser then picks two role players and each of these people perform the action from their role card. If they perform the same action then that guesser gets the pair and gets to choose again, if they do not perform the same action it is the next guessers turn to go. When all of the pairs are completed the game is finished and the person with the most pairs wins.
Objective: To improve the memory and to get the participants to act crazy when they are performing their actions and maybe do things they would not normally do. The biggest objective is to have fun.
Leadership Suggestions:
· Have set actions for each role so each person performing the role will do what the other person is doing and they will be similar, causing less confusion.
· The game can be a little complicated so make sure you give clear and precise instructions
· Have the role players sit in squad formation to make the game more organized.
· Have the participants stand up and do their action so that they are more easily visible
Safety Measures: There are not many safety measures needed for this game, but one might be allowing each role player to have enough room, so when they are performing the action they are not going to injure anyone.
Problem Areas & Recommendations:
· Have the right amount of role cards so that if there are people that don't want to play or are extras for some reason you still have enough.
· Some kids may be too shy to perform the role so encouragement may be needed
· Kids can be cruel so if a guesser is weak they may get picked on, be ready to step in and maybe let the other people help them.

Name of Game: Wrap the Mummy
Ideal # of Participants: flexible… as long as you have enough toilet paper (10-30)
Age: 8 and up
Equipment: toilet paper rolls
Type of Game: Interactive Game
Description: Participants are divided into small groups (2 to 4 per group is ideal). Each group gets one 1 to 3 rolls of toilet paper and chooses one person to be the mummy. Each group must wrap their mummy from neck to feet (excluding the head and not wrapping the arms to the body or the legs together). The game ends either at a certain time (the winning group is the mummy wrapped the best at the finish time) or when the first group completely finishes their mummy. If it's a timed race you can have all the mummies come to the centre for judging. This is usually unexpected to the mummies, and attempts to walk are frequently entertaining.
Objective: Get people moving and having fun.
Leadership Suggestions:
· Keep groups small
· The game is simple, so keep instruction to a minimum and just let the groups go
· Keep talking to the group so the wrapping is fast-paced
Safety Measures:
· Emphasize that the head remains uncovered and the mummy is able to move their arms and legs.
· Make sure all the toilet paper is picked up so nobody slips on it later (have a garbage bag handy).
Problem Areas & Recommendations:
· Make sure the groups are small enough so that everyone is involved
· Bring more than enough toilet paper
