DESCRIPTION: Players all pair up, then the pairs form a circle. The leader says "mount!" pairs mount into the piggyback position. The leader then says "dismount", Rider gets down, runs around the circle of people, the last team to complete the circuit is eliminated, last team left in the circle is the winner.
OBJECTIVE: fun, exercise
SAFETY: Ensure proper footwear, watch out for collisions around the circle.
PROBLEMS: partners should be similar in body size as larger people will be harder to mount their partners.
NAME: Topless Relay
TYPE OF GAME: Active
IDEAL # OF PEOPLE: groups of 10
AGE SUITABILITY: 12 +
EQUIPMENT: large size T-shirt
DESCRIPTION: Divide group into equal teams, first person puts on T-shirt and does a frog jump to designated line, then crab walks back. The T-shirt is then passed to the next person in line by joining hands and having others in the group pull it off one and onto the other. First team to get through everyone wins.
OBJECTIVE: teamwork, fun and communication
SAFETY: tuck T-shirts in, to avoid being exposed when team T-shirt is exchanged, demonstrate exchanging technique.
PROBLEMS: people pulling too hard to get the T-shirt from one person to the other.
NAME: Heart-to-Heart Relay
TYPE OF GAME: Active
IDEAL # OF PEOPLE: 15 +
AGE SUITABILITY: 12+
EQUIPMENT: large ball or balloon
DESCRIPTION: Have participants pair off, preferably male/female creating a teams of 8-10 members. Have teams line up at the end line with a target at the other end of the playing area. Each pair is given a balloon, which they must blow up and tie to begin the game. The leader gives the signal to begin, they must blow up the balloon, the first pair places the balloon in between their bellies and walk/run/waddle to the other end and back. The next pair must do the same till the entire team has gone. Once the whole team has made it they must be seated to clam a winner.
SAFETY: must be careful how you talk with the balloon in between one another you don't want to fall.
PROBLEMS: must have enough balloons handy in case they pop during the game or while blowing them up.
NAME: Find your Valentine
TYPE OF GAME: Icebreaker
IDEAL # OF PEOPLE: 10+
AGE SUITABILITY: 10+
EQUIPMENT: Valentines day cards
DESCRIPTION: Place the valentines cards in the middle of the gym, have students walk up to them and pick one from the stack. Once everyone has a card they must find the person it is to, once they have received a valentine they must find their matching partner. Once they have found their match they can sit down.
SAFETY: watch for running for the valentines may cause collisions
PROBLEMS: having matching couples in equal numbers
NAME: Romance Relay
TYPE OF GAME: Active (valentines day)
IDEAL # OF PEOPLE: 6 or more
AGE SUITABILITY: 18 or over
EQUIPMENT: balloons, crackers, balls
DESCRIPTION:
-players divided into pairs of males and females
o
male eats cracker, then walks across room to female
-male tries to whistle song, female guesses it
-when guessed, couple returns to other side were balloon is inflated
o
couples then take potato, places between foreheads, and runs back to finish line
o first couple finished wins
SAFETY: beware of shy people, do not enforce population
PROBLEMS: need a large area to play this game
